Rodrigo Álvarez Zenteno

Rodrigo Álvarez obtained his Bachelor Degree in Law from Universidad Católica de Chile, is Masters in Law (LL.M.) from Harvard University and Doctor in Law from Navarra University.

He was member of Parliament during three legislative years for the District Nº 60 (Antártica, Cabo De Hornos, Laguna Blanca, Natales, Porvenir, Primavera, Punta Arenas, Río Verde, San Gregorio, Timaukel, Torres Del Paine).

The Under Secreatary has been a member of the Permanent Commissions of Finance, Mining and National Defense, and the Special Commissions over Extreme Areas of the Country, Tax Status of Private Mining and Antarctic Development.

Additionally, Mr. Álvarez has worked in different law firms and is Professor in Tributary Law, Commercial Law and Competence Law. In his academic duties, he has lectured, among others, at the Law Faculties of Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad del Desarrollo, Universidad Andrés Bello, Universidad Finis Terrae and Universidad Austral.

He has also been Vicepresident of the Independent Democreatic Union (Unión Democrática Independiente-UDI) .

Rodrigo Álvarez is married and the father of five children.
