Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz at Chile Day London 2026: "We are united in our purpose to bring growth, prosperity and progress back to the country"

In one of the world's leading financial centers, the secretary of state presented the Capital Market and Home Financing Reform Bill and outlined measures aimed at broadening funding sources, attracting capital, and deepening Chile's integration with international markets.

Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz addressed representatives of the financial world gathered at Chile Day London 2026, where he presented the economic agenda promoted by the Government to restore higher levels of growth and investment, with particular emphasis on the Capital Market and Home Financing Reform Bill, currently under discussion in Congress.

"We want to put Chile back in the spotlight. We want to make Chile attractive again. And we are doing it together," the secretary of state stressed. He added: "We may have some differences within Chile, but we are united in our purpose to bring growth, prosperity, and progress back to the country."

The official positioned investment as a key condition for restoring higher growth rates. "We want to get back to 4%. That is our goal. And we are here to make that transformation happen," he emphasized.

He explained that the Government's roadmap is built on three pillars: regulatory streamlining, tax competitiveness, and fiscal consolidation. Within this framework, he positioned the Capital Market and Home Financing Reform Bill as one of the central pillars of the strategy.

To illustrate this, he used an image: "The capital market used to be a large aquarium, full of water and many players," he said, referring to the depth the local market reached before pension fund withdrawals and rising public debt eroded it. "This reform is about bringing more water back into it, to restore the aquarium," he underscored. "We want the capital market to become an engine of growth once again," he stated.

Before the investors gathered in London, the minister placed particular emphasis on Chile's integration with global financial markets. "We need rules similar to those in the rest of the world," he stressed.

The secretary of state also highlighted the need to restore the local market's appeal for companies and investors. "We need to be attractive enough for a company that left to want to come back," he said. He further noted that greater financial depth and integration could open new opportunities for the country: "We want Chile to become a regional financial hub."

Toward the close of his remarks, the minister pointed to emerging signals in investment activity: "We are beginning to see the impact on investment decisions. This is the key point." During the first six months of this government, the Environmental Impact Assessment System approved 167 projects worth USD 34 billion, while 144 initiatives worth USD 39 billion were submitted over the same period.

The official also reinforced the outlook for the coming year. "We expect investment to grow 8.1% in 2027. And this figure matters. Why does it matter? Because it's the number we need," he emphasized.

Alongside his participation in Chile Day London 2026, Minister Quiroz held meetings with investors, representatives of banks and financial institutions, authorities, and regulators, where he presented the investment opportunities the country offers and further discussed the main measures of the economic agenda aimed at strengthening growth, investment, and capital market development.
