Jorge Quiroz Castro, married with four children, is a commercial engineer with a specialization in Economics from the University of Chile and holds a PhD in Economics from Duke University (1991), with a minor in Mathematics.
Between 1991 and 1994, he was a professor in the ILADES/Georgetown University graduate program. During that period, he also served as a visiting professor at Duke University (1993), a visiting researcher in the World Bank's Distinguished Scholars Program (1993), and a visiting professor at the Central Bank of Peru (1992-1994). From 1994 to 1999, he was an adjunct professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Chile.
In 2001, he founded Quiroz y Asociados and from there developed a career linked to economic and financial consulting until January 2026.
Between 2013 and 2017, he was a member of the Advisory Board of DATA UC, an entity under the Department of Mathematics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. In 2022, he was appointed advisor to CLAPES UC, the Latin American Center for Economic and Social Policies at the same university.
Between 2018 and 2023, he was an independent director of the Santiago Stock Exchange. Then, between 2023 and 2025, he served on the board of directors of NUAM Exchange, the holding company that controls the stock exchanges of Santiago, Lima, and Bogotá. He later resumed his position as an independent director of the Santiago Stock Exchange, a role he held until January 2026.
He is also the author of the book *Cuentos pendientes* (2015) and co-author, with his daughter Elisa, of the book *Chile entre 2 terremotos: personajes prominentes de los últimos 50 años* (2017). He was the executive producer of the Chilean films *Perla* (2015) and *Te Amo (Made in Chile)* (2001) and an associate producer of *Gringuito* (1998).
He was a regular columnist for the newspaper *El Mercurio* from 2018 to 2025.
